24 Acquisitions Over Six Years
Ray joined SPL (then known as South Pacific Laundry) in 2010 while simultaneously managing a laundry business he had founded in Albury, NSW. In 2013, he relocated to Melbourne to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the SPL Group, which at the time comprised three commercial laundry facilities.
Over the next four years, Ray spearheaded an ambitious national growth strategy, leading a team that successfully executed twenty-four acquisitions across Australia. His approach combined strategic foresight with operational discipline, enabling SPL to integrate acquired businesses, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery.
As part of this consolidation process, select acquired laundries were closed, with their customer bases transitioned seamlessly (“bolted on”) to larger, more efficient plants. This strategy resulted in SPL emerging as a dominant player in the Australian market, operating nine state-of-the-art plants and eleven distribution centres nationwide.
Ray’s leadership during this transformative period was instrumental in shaping SPL into the country’s largest privately owned commercial laundry groups
